Essential Oil Tool Box
You wouldn’t go camping without a tent or bake a cake without a tin. It is exactly the same with essential oils. Having the right supplies on hand makes using your oils easy and will save you money in the long run!
When you are armed with a box of oils and a few simple tools, the possibilities are endless. Here is what I keep in my oil tool box and what I recommend you keep on hand so you are ready for anything thrown your way.
Essential Oil Tool Book
Reference Book
I have been using oils for 6 years and I still go to my reference book daily. My absolute favorite is The Essential Life - I call this my oil bible because it has all the answers. I love the quick reference section in the front and all the protocols in the back. If you are on a budget, you can also grab an older edition of the book here, the Essential Life App for $4.99 or The Essential Basics, which is a smaller, spiral bound version. Others I love are Oil Magic, Modern Essentials and Emotions and Essential Oils.
Diffusers
You likely got a diffuser in your starter kit, which is great! Someday soon, you will find that you will want a diffuser in every room in your house! I absolutely love the doTERRA Lumo and Volo diffusers. You will be hard pressed to find the same level of customer service that doTERRA offers just in case something does go wrong with the diffuser. But if you’re on a budget and wanting to get a few diffusers, the UR Power Diffuser is my fav!
Fractionated Coconut Oil
This is by far my favorite carrier oil to use with essential oils. Fractionated means that the fat lipids have been fractionated out of the coconut oil leaving an odorless, quick absorbing carrier oil. It also does not leave a residue, does not clog pores and it will always stay liquid! FCO, as I call it, also helps extend the life of your oils while minimizing sensitivity. This is what I use to dilute oils for our whole family and my go-to carrier oil in roller balls. doTERRA sells a great FCO so you can simply add it to your next order and even earn points back if you’ve joined the Loyalty Rewards Program. You can also find it on Amazon, iHerb or at Scoop Wholefoods, if you’re here in Singapore!
10ml Roller Balls
You will quickly learn that roller balls are a vital part of the essential oil lifestyle. Whipping up roller balls for your family members makes using your oils so easy and it is a great way to empower your children to start using oils safely (with your supervision, of course)! At 15 months old, Charlie knows how to apply his own immunity and sleep roller balls to his feet and will reach for his teething roller ball while pointing to his cheek when his gums hurt! My favorites have stainless steel rollers on top so make sure you look out for that. If you’re in the US, you can add roller balls to your doTERRA order (6 for $4.75 wholesale) or get some on Amazon. If you’re in Singapore you can find them online at Shopee, AliExpress or Lazada.
2oz Small Spray and Dropper Bottles
You’ll want these on hand for DIYs like face serum, toner, sunburn spray, diaper rash spray, etc. Make sure you use dark, glass bottles for anything essential oils would be sitting in for more than a day or two. I love these 2oz spray bottles and these dropper bottles.
16oz Spray Bottles
I use these to make room sprays, linen sprays and all my DIY household cleaners. You want to make sure you use glass bottles here too. These are my favorites from Amazon!
Labels
You will want to label your roller balls and other DIY projects. I love, love, love my old school DYMO label maker. It is super easy to personalize everything and the labels actually stick! You can also grab cute labels from Etsy or OilLife.com.
Cap Stickers
These make finding the oils you want so much easier. They also make labeling rollerballs and DIYs easy. I like to write the number of drops I’ve used on each cap sticker then stick them on roller blends or DIYs. This makes it so easy to remember the ratios and recipes when I got to remake them. Add these to your doTERRA order or get them on Amazon. doTERRA is cheaper ;)
Silicon Molds
I just ventured into making bath bombs and this mold makes it so much easier. You’ll also want molds on hand if you decide to make dishwasher tablets or toilet cleaners. Yes, you can make those things using a few simple ingredients and your oils! I like these from Amazon.
DIY Supplies
If you have witch hazel, white vinegar, baking soda and citric acid on hand, you can make so many household products and cleaners! I shop from these in the grocery store, on Amazon or on iHerb.
Dryer Balls
Want to step up your laundry routine? Ditching dryer sheets and using these wool dryer balls along with a few drops of essential oil will rock your world.
Sample Supplies
If you’re diving into sharing essential oils or building a doTERRA business, you’ll want to snag this sample kit from Oil Life. If you’re outside the United States, reach out to me and I’ll hook you up!
Happy shopping!
